SouthernLINC Wireless, a Southern company, announced thatPresident and CEO Bob Dawson will retire on October 1.
The company also announced that Don Horsley, VP of customerservices for Mississippi Power, will succeed Dawson as president andCEO of SouthernLINC Wireless and Southern Telecom. Horsley willtransition into his new role August 1. Dawson will remain with thecompany, serving as chairman of the board, until his retirement onOctober 1.
Dawson's career began with Southern Company Services in 1964 as aco-operative education student in the system planning department;after which, he held positions in the fuel services, bulk powermarketing and rate departments of Southern Company, followed by VPof power generation and delivery for Mississippi Power. Just priorto the inception of SouthernLINC Wireless, he served as VP of LatinAmerica and Caribbean assets for Southern Electric International.
SouthernLINC Wireless is a regional wireless carrier with networkcoverage in the major metro and rural areas of Alabama, Georgia,southeast Mississippi and northwest Florida. SouthernLINC Wirelesscombines multiple communication options, including Push To Talk two-way radio (PTT), cellular service, wireless Internet access,wireless data, and text and picture messaging, into one hand-helddevice.
