Another huge power plant proposed for Pomeroy area
An electric generator is proposing a clean-burning coal powerplant that could create 150 jobs in southeast Ohio, becoming thesecond company with plans to add a power plant in an area that hasthe state's highest unemployment rate.
American Municipal Power-Ohio and its two partners have selected asite in Meigs County along the Ohio River for the $1.2 billionfacility. The 1,000-megawatt plant is expected to be running by 2012,officials said. One megawatt is enough to power 330 homes.
