Photographer 'kept on shooting pictures after standing on landmine'.(News)

Family and friends of veteran South African photographer Joao Silva are anxiously awaiting news about his medical condition.

Silva was covering the war in southern Afghanistan for the New York Times when he stepped on a landmine in an area which had just been cleared by minesweepers and sniffer dogs.

By yesterday evening family and close friends of Silva had heard that he would be flown to Germany for medical treatment, but they had not received an update on his condition since Saturday night.
