Dec. 5--Empire Commercial Real Estate LP in Ontario spent 12 months developing its first multifamily residential project.
Executives spent four months selecting a name for the 420-unit apartment complex in Fontana, which opened as Barrington Place in 2003.
"It was our first apartment project, so we wanted a memorable name," President Jim Brooks said. "W e were looking for was something that sounded high-end and would make it easy to remember."
After much research and several brainstorming sessions among developer, architect and marketing agency, the name "Barrington" was selected. Barrington, Ill., is a village near Chicago when the median income is $102,120.
"It [Barrington] had a proper sound to it, and it sounded like a suburban environment," Brooks said. "Finding a name is the best part of this job, because it's what gives a project its identity, more than anything else."
